a kinder gentler entry

very interesting.
The whole point of livejournal, well the point for me, was to get a little feedback on my thoughts and musings. If I wanted to write entirely privately, i would just keep a paper journal. Now some people keep their livejournal entirely private, and that's fine too, I am not being clear.- I think if you have any public entries, regardless of what we may like to think, you have a tiny responsibility to your readers. For instance, I used an lj-cut to hide the foul language I used when I just hurt my toe because I figured other people might check LJ at work.
I had someone on my friends list that had added me and dropped me- which is cool. its how this whole thing works. I left this person on my friends list because I enjoyed reading the journal. i had noticed, it seemed like, that this person had several people that had done this. Which is also cool. Recently, i noticed that this person had completely disappeared. Well, today, I was reading my friendsfriends list, and a see a new name, but the format and writing style were exact to said "missing friend." I do a little research, and discover this person has changed their lj user name without a public warning. Others were obviously notified because this person has several friends listed. This does not seem kosher.
I am worried now for this person. What was the reasoning behind the name change? (Being narcissitic- did I have anything to do with it?) If the person wanted rid of those of us who were reading their journal- why not make everything friends only? or ask me to remove their lj from my friends list? The whole situation is odd, and feels strange.
Well, i have said my piece, and if the unnamed person reads this- i hope I haven't offended you or done anything- i just enjoyed reading your journal.
