Jun. 8th, 2003 10:06 pm1. What made you want to teach?
I had always wanted to teach. I enjoy imparting knowledge to other people. The "AHA" moments are the best.
2. When did you first 'know' about your sexuality and how did you react?
the short answer- Right after I tried to date one of my best friends (nothing happened) I realized I was just looking for an excuse to hide from what I was really feeling.
The long answer- I think I have always known in one capacity or another. It is what made me shy away from other girls at slumber parties, and reread that one part in Anne Frank a thousand times. It was something that i fought subconsciously for a long time, but once it came into my conscious thought, I never have really doubted it or tried to change it.
3. Describe the qualities of the student you're going to miss the most.
The ones who are polite and pleasant. The ones who say "hello" every time they pass you, and say "thank-you" when you give them something. Also the ones who may not like everything you ask them to do, but have enough respect for me to do it anyway.
4. How close are you to your family, and how does it affect your life?
I love my family from a distance. I am here, in Oak Hill because I didn't want to upset them. I have made many decisions based on whether or not it would upset them. I am learning to not use that criteria in my decision making process.
5. What is your favorite instrument to listen to and why?
OK, I am biased, but the trombone. To me, there is no other instrument, save the human voice, that can express so many emotions so clearly. I absolutely love to listen to trombone choirs. The overtones they create are simply mind blowing.
thanks James.
