Aug. 20th, 2007 06:40 pmLet's see if I can remember everythig that's happened since we last met.
The weekend of the 11th I went to WV to visit Dave S. It was a nice weekend. I was glad to get to meet some of the people he hangs out with there. The most memorable event was the children's sermon at Dave's new church. The lady was explaining to the kids that money won't get you into heaven, but doing good things will (not exactly correct, but I digress.) She was describing some of the things you could do, and one was "be nice to homeless people." She said "you know, those people that stand on the street corner with a sign saying 'will work for food?' go give'em some crackers- they're hungry, they'll eat crackers. if they don't want the crackers; well, they shouldn't be on that street corner then anyway." i think my mouth actually dropped open. then the guy giving the sermon- "Abraham did everything by faith, and when he did try to do things without God's help he screwed up- look at Ishmael- we're still having problems from those Arabs in the middle east." wow, all I can say is wow.
We did go shopping in the afternoon. That was fun. I don't do that often.
The rest of the week was uneventful. Leigh came over on Tuesday and we picked our fall concert. Nothing exciting happened at work all week. I was very glad I only worked 4 days.
In other news- still struggling on the weight. Of course my consumption of a dark chocolate truffle cookie from Northstar and a serving of Ben & Jerry's cookie dough ice cream today won't help.
I am also broke. In fact I need to write a few bills, and I don't have enough money in the bank account to cover them. I'll do some creative banking. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to get a bike-it would be an inital expense, but I think cheaper than the long run on gas and such. I'll need to learn to pump up tires though.
I'l write about this past weekend in a little bit. It was really wonderful. I want it to have its own post.
