Connectivity
Aug. 2nd, 2007 09:10 pmYou know, I had a conversation with some friends a couple of months ago in which their position was that the internet and other modern technology has served to isolate us from each other. I disagreed, but I wasn't able to get my point across effectively.
Without the internet (and LJ) and probably wouldn't have given the bridge collapse in MN much more than a passing thought of concern. Because of the internet (and LJ) I watched the coverage closely-and worried for the personal well being of half a dozen people.
I am eternally thankful that all those I know (and care about) seem to be safe and sound.
I think the world is a much smaller place these days.
